Short Term Accomodation Arrangements
Previously known as respite, Short Term Accomodation funding may be included in your NDIS plan. This funding allows you to have respite from your standard place of care, which may be home or a facility. STA also allows you to try new things in new places and is a particularly helpful way to utilise gained skills of independence, social interaction and community access.
STA covers the cost of care outside of your usual place of care. This includes; accomodation, meals, activities, transport, and any care and assistance required whilst you are away.
SMART Care Community Support are proud to offer this service to our clients, encouraging new experiences and providing respite for clients, particularly our clients who are carers themselves. We offer support and unsupported STA arrangements, which means you can have our carers and support workers accompany you on your STA, or you can opt to arrange your own supports for your time away.

Each arrangement is made with the client's interests and goals in mind and is tailored to suit each, in addition to mobility and care needs.
During the process of creating your STA arrangement, we firstly make a time to understand your goals, needs and interests. This helps us to match suitable accomodations and arrange activities specific to your interests. We can then discuss what you are looking for in your STA, which helps our team to understand your personal goals and needs like; trying something new, stepping into more independence, or engaging in community activities.
